Question 331 of 380

The deflection in moving coil galvanometer falls from 2525 divisions to 55 division when a shunt of 24Ω24\Omega is applied. The resistance of galvanometer coil will be:

Show answer and solution

Answer: (B) 96Ω96\Omega

Let xx represents the current per division though the galvanometer.

After applying shunt

Now, if
GG is the galvanometer resistance, from the above figure, it can be written that
5x×G=20x×24⇒G=4×24⇒G=96Ω5x\times G=20x\times 24 \Rightarrow G=4\times 24 \Rightarrow G=96\Omega
