Question 353 of 380

A galvanometer having a coil resistance 100Ω100 \Omega gives a full scale deflection when a current of 1mA1mA is passed through it. What is the value of the resistance which can convert this galvanometer into a voltmeter given full scale deflection for a potential difference of 10V?10V?

Show answer and solution

Answer: (D) 9.9kΩ9.9 k\Omega

Vg=igRg=0.1V{V}_{g}={i}_{g}{R}_{g}=0.1V
V=10VV=10V
R=Rg(VVg−1)R={R}_{g}\left(\dfrac{V}{{V}_{g}}-1\right)
=100×99=9.9KΩ=100\times 99=9.9K\Omega
