Question 66 of 70

A screw gauge gives the following reading when used to measure the diameter of a wire.
Main scale reading :
0 mm0 \mathrm{~mm}
Circular scale reading : 52 divisions

Given that
1 mm1 \mathrm{~mm} on main scale corresponds to 100 divisions of the circular scale.
The diameter of wire from the above date is :

Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) 0.052 cm0.052 \mathrm{~cm}

Diameter of wire =1100×52=0.52 mm=0.052 cm=\frac{1}{100} \times 52=0.52 \mathrm{~mm}=0.052 \mathrm{~cm}
