Question 15 of 168

When a gas filled in a closed vessel is heated by raising the temperature by 1∘C1^{\circ}C, its pressure increases by 0.40.4% The initial temperature of the gas is _____ KK.

Show answer and solution

Answer: 250

From ideal gas equation, PV=nRTPV=nRT, where, nn is amount of substance, RR is ideal gas constant and VV is volume.
In closed vessel volume remains constant.

So,
dPP×100=dTT×100\dfrac{dP}{P}\times 100=\dfrac{dT}{T}\times 100
0.4=1T×1000.4=\dfrac{1}{T}\times 100
⇒T=250K\Rightarrow T=250K
