Question 129 of 280

A force of 40N40N acts on a point BB at the end of an L-shaped object as shown in the figure. The angle θ\theta that will produce the maximum moment of the force about point AA is given by:

Show answer and solution

Answer: (C) tan⁡⁡θ=12\tan ⁡\theta =\dfrac{1}{2}

Moment of force will be maximum when the line of action of force is perpendicular to line
ABAB, tan⁡⁡θ=24=12\tan ⁡\theta =\dfrac{2}{4}=\dfrac{1}{2}.
