An electric toaster has resistance of 60Ω60\Omega at room temperature (27∘C)\left(27^{\circ}C\right). The toaster is connected to a 220V220V supply. If the current flowing through it reaches 2.75A2.75A, the temperature attained by toaster is around: (if α=2×10−4C−1∘\alpha =2\times {10}^{-4}C-1^{\circ} )

Answer: (C) 1694∘C1694^{\circ}C

Resistance at 27∘C27^{\circ}C, RT=27=60Ω{R}_{T=27}=60\Omega.
Final resistance, RT=2202.75=80Ω{R}_{T}=\dfrac{220}{2.75}=80\Omega.
Now, we can write R=R0(1+αΔT)R={R}_{0}(1+\alpha \Delta T)
⇒80=60[1+2×10−4(T−27)]\Rightarrow 80=60\left[1+2\times {10}^{-4}(T-27)\right]
⇒T≈1694∘C\Rightarrow T\approx 1694^{\circ}C
