Question 243 of 380

A resistor develops 300J300J of thermal energy in 15s15s, when a current of 2A2A is passed through it. If the current increases to 3A3A, the energy developed in 10s10s is _____ JJ.

Show answer and solution

Answer: 450

Energy produced is given by H=i2RtH={i}^{2}Rt
When
i=2A,t=15si=2A,t=15s, energy is H=300=22×R×15H=300={2}^{2}\times R\times 15
Resistance is
R=5ΩR=5\Omega
When
i=3A,t=10si=3A,t=10s.
Energy is
H′=32×5×10{H}^{'}={3}^{2}\times 5\times 10=450J=450J
