Question 287 of 380

In meter bridge experiment for measuring unknown resistance 'SS', the null point is obtained at a distance 30cm30cm from the left side as shown at point DD. If RR is 5.6kΩ5.6k\Omega, then the value of unknown resistance 'SS' will be _____ Ω\Omega.

Show answer and solution

Answer: 2400

Using balanced wheatstone condition in meter bridge
RS=7030\dfrac{R}{S}=\dfrac{70}{30}
Given here,
R=5.6kΩR=5.6k\Omega.
The,
S30=5.6×10370\dfrac{S}{30}=\dfrac{5.6\times {10}^{3}}{70}
S=37×5.6×103=2400ΩS=\dfrac{3}{7}\times 5.6\times {10}^{3}=2400\Omega
