Question 291 of 380

Current measured by the ammeter (A)\left(A\right) in the reported circuit when no current flows through 10Ω10\Omega resistance, will be _____ AA.

Show answer and solution

Answer: 10

This is a Wheatstone circuit. For the current to be zero in
10Ω10\Omega the Wheatstone circuit should be balanced. Therefore,
R3=46⇒R=2Ω\dfrac{R}{3}=\dfrac{4}{6}\Rightarrow R=2\Omega
Now, the equivalent resistance across the battery will be,

Req=(2+4)×(3+6)(2+4)+(3+6)=3.6Ω{R}_{eq}=\dfrac{\left(2+4\right)\times \left(3+6\right)}{\left(2+4\right)+\left(3+6\right)}=3.6\Omega
Therefore, the current measured by the ammeter is
i=VR=363.6=10Ai=\dfrac{V}{R}=\dfrac{36}{3.6}=10A.
