Question 334 of 380

A current of 200μA200\mu A deflects the coil of a moving coil galvanometer through 60∘60^{\circ}. The current to cause deflection through π10\dfrac{\pi }{10} radian is

Show answer and solution

Answer: (C) 60μA60\mu A

In a moving coil galvanometer, the current is related to the angle of deflection by the formula:
i∝θ...(1)i\propto \theta ...\left(1\right)
From equation (1), it follow sthat

i2i1=θ2θ1⇒i2200μA=π10π3=310⇒i2=60μA\dfrac{{i}_{2}}{{i}_{1}}=\dfrac{{\theta }_{2}}{{\theta }_{1}} \Rightarrow \dfrac{{i}_{2}}{200\mu A}=\dfrac{\dfrac{\pi }{10}}{\dfrac{\pi }{3}}=\dfrac{3}{10} \Rightarrow {i}_{2}=60\mu A
