Question 166 of 194

Time period of a simple pendulum is TT. The time taken to complete 58\dfrac{5}{8} oscillations starting from mean position is α12T\dfrac{\alpha }{12}T. The value of α\alpha is ______.

Show answer and solution

Answer: 7

58\dfrac{5}{8}th of oscillation =(12+18)th={\left(\dfrac{1}{2}+\dfrac{1}{8}\right)}^{th} of oscillation

π+θ=ωt\pi +\theta =\omega t
π+π6=(2πT)t\pi +\dfrac{\pi }{6}=\left(\dfrac{2\pi }{T}\right)t
7π6=(2πT)t\dfrac{7\pi }{6}=\left(\dfrac{2\pi }{T}\right)t
t=7T12t=\dfrac{7T}{12}
