Question 55 of 209

In the circuit shown below, maximum Zener diode current will be _____ mAmA.

Show answer and solution

Answer: 9

Current through load resistor is
IL=60V10000Ω=0.006A{I}_{L}=\dfrac{60V}{10000\Omega }=0.006A and current through 4000Ω4000\Omega resistor is I=(120−60)V4000Ω=0.015AI=\dfrac{\left(120-60\right)V}{4000\Omega }=0.015A
Thus, maximum current through Zener diode is
IZ=I−IL{I}_{Z}=I-{I}_{L}
=0.015−0.006=0.009A=9mA=0.015-0.006=0.009A=9mA
