Question 65 of 209

In the given figure, each diode has a forward bias resistance of 30Ω30\Omega and infinite resistance in reverse bias. The current I1{I}_{1} will be :

Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) 2.0A2.0A

We know that in reverse bias ideal diode does not pass current it only works in forward bias so, the current in the third branch is zero, it means the net resistance of the upper two branch is,
1Req=1160+1160⇒Req=80Ω\dfrac{1}{{R}_{eq}}=\dfrac{1}{160}+\dfrac{1}{160}\Rightarrow {R}_{eq}=80\Omega
⇒R′eq=80+20=100Ω\Rightarrow R{'}_{eq}=80+20=100\Omega
⇒i=200100=2A\Rightarrow i=\dfrac{200}{100}=2A
