Question 95 of 209

In the given circuit the current through zener diode is:

Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) 3.3mA3.3mA

VAB=10V{V}_{AB}=10V∴VBC=5V∴{V}_{BC}=5V, the current in R1=I1=5500{R}_{1}={I}_{1}=\dfrac{5}{500}
⇒I1=10mA\Rightarrow {I}_{1}=10mA. Current in R2=I2=101500{R}_{2}={I}_{2}=\dfrac{10}{1500}⇒I2=203mA\Rightarrow {I}_{2}=\dfrac{20}{3}mA

Current in zener diode =
I1−I2=(10−203)mA=103mA{I}_{1}-{I}_{2}=\left(10-\dfrac{20}{3}\right)mA=\dfrac{10}{3}mA
