Question 304 of 311

A charge QQ is placed at a distance a/2\mathrm{a} / 2 above the centre of the square surface of edge a as shown in the figure. The electric flux through the square surface is:

Show answer and solution

Answer: (B) Q6ε0\frac{Q}{6 \varepsilon_0}

When cube is of side a and point charge QQ is at the center of the cube then the total electric flux due to this charge will pass evenly through the six faces of the cube. So, the electric flux through one face will be equal to 1/61 / 6 of the total electric flux due to this charge.
Flux through 6 faces
=Qϵ0=\frac{Q}{\epsilon_0}
∴\therefore Flux through 1 face, =Q6ϵ0=\frac{Q}{6 \epsilon_0}
