Question 100 of 209

A 2V2V battery is connected across ABAB as shown in the figure. The value of the current supplied by the battery when in first case battery's positive terminal is connected to AA and in second case when positive terminal of battery is connected to BB will respectively be:

Show answer and solution

Answer: (D) 0.4A0.4A and 0.2A0.2A

When +ve+\text{ve} polarity is connected to A\text{A}

Then
D1{D}_{1} is forward biased and D2{D}_{2} is reversed biased i.e.

∴∴ I1{I}_{1} current through D1=25=0.4A{D}_{1}=\dfrac{2}{5}=0.4A

When
+ve+\text{ve} polarity is connected to B\text{B} then D2{D}_{2} is forward biased and D1{D}_{1} is reversed biased then

⇒I2=210=0.2A\Rightarrow {I}_{2}=\dfrac{2}{10}=0.2A
